Our founder
Our founder Mr. Selcuk Akkas, attorney at law & trademark attorney, practices in all aspects of Turkish patent and trademark law, with primary emphasis on litigation, dispute resolution, licensing, counseling and registration and prosecution. He counsels and advises numerous Turkish and foreign clients on patent and trade mark validity, infringement, and licensing matters, as well as other trademark matters for 19 years. He frequently evaluates and counsels clients with respect to potential patent and trademark infringement situations. He develops strategies for enforcing client patents or for challenging the patents of others, and implements those strategies via negotiation and/or litigation.
Before he found Ata Patent Group, he worked and studied in Houston, TX - USA for almost eight years and he had a chance to excelled himself in American & International Business Law. He was privileged to work for Karadag Law Firm in Houston, TX to get hands on experience on different legal issues.
Intellectual Property Law is one of Mr. Akkas’ passions. He became one of the first trademark attorneys after passing the exam that was held by Turkish Patent Institute in 1996. Since then, he has registered hundreds of trademarks and solved several complicated disputes among various companies. He also represented several clients at IP courts regarding intellectual property law.
Mr. Akkas has extensive experience in trial courts and in appeals regarding patent, trademark, design patent, and other intellectual property related issues. He has prepared and registered numerous trademarks, and has considerable experience in interferences, and alternate dispute resolution while he was an in-house counsel to Eczacibasi Pharmaceutical Marketing Inc., largest Turkish pharmaceutical company.
